Immerse yourself in the captivating scenery of Sneem on our guided Fermoyle Loop walk. This trail gets you quickly and easily into the wild Ring of Kerry countryside and foothills of the Dunkerron Mountains. It follows tarred road, farm track and open hillside.With the terrain rough and uneven underfoot, regular walkers with a good level of fitness find it more suitable.  Notwithstanding, it’s worth noting that the highest point on the trail is only approximately 200m, so it’s manageable for most with plenty of breaks. Here in the heart of the Kerry GeoPark area, you'll discover why the area is special from a nature, geology, cultural and history perspective.  The Sneem peaks of Knocknagantee, Finnerraragh and Beann mountains tower above.As the entire mid-section of this Sneem trail crosses privately owned farm land, dogs are not permitted. If you're looking for a great Kerry Walk Experience, this walk is for you. We'll shorten the route to 9 KM, so you can can complete it in approximately 3 hours.  We typically schedule this as an afternoon walk allowing you be finished just in time for tea! We typically meet at Álaind Lodges, Sneem (Postcode for Google Maps is V93AC80) at 2.45 pm.

Highlights of this Lománagh Loop Walk

Waterproof boots and a waterproof jacket are required.  Depending on the weather forecast I recommend a small rucksack with the extra bits the group my need. Examples of these might include snacks, sunscreen, some light warm tops, hat, gloves, rain pants and adequate water. You don’t need a map for this Kerry Walk, as the Lomanagh Loop is way-marked in its entirety. However, if you are familiar with Ordnance Survey Maps, I recommend OSI Map number 84, which will help you identify features and locations you see in the distance.  Happily, Una in Sneem Bookshop in the South Square of the village usually has a good stock of maps. The one that you want is Ordnance Survey Map Number 84 – scale 1:50,000.
