Prepare to be captivated by breathtaking panoramic views that stretch across the rugged Kerry landscape, extending to the Wild Atlantic Way and beyond. This exhilarating challenge promises not just a climb, but an immersive experience, rewarding your efforts with a profound sense of achievement and memories that will last a lifetime. This is a 14km strenuous 7 hour round trip on rough and eroded terrain to the summit of Carrauntoohil. Being Ireland's tallest mountain, it is a strenuous challenge with 1,000m of ascent for those with good fitness and a love of walking in the mountains.This walk is entirely off-trail and good waterproof walking boots are essential.  You'll also need suitable walking clothing, walking pole(s) and a daypack with waterproof overlayers, plenty of fluids, sufficient food. <ul> <li>Waterproof walking boots with good grips and good laces.</li> <li>Quick-drying loose or stretchy pants.  Avoid wearing jeans and cotton tee-shirts, which can get uncomfortable when warm and very cold when wet</li> <li>Good Walking Socks</li> <li>100% waterproof shell type jacket.</li>

What to Wear

<ul> <li>Spare warm fleece type top (a couple of thin layers).</li> <li>Small backpack for food, spare clothes and other supplies.</li> <li>Hat &amp; Gloves.</li> <li>Gaiters – keep your ankles / calves dry in wet long grass.</li> <li>Waterproof over-trousers.</li> <li>Walking Poles.</li> <li>Sunscreen.</li> <li>Smartphone for contact and for fantastic photos.</li> <li>Water bottle – preferably a reusable one.</li>
